Frohlocked!

When I make a call on my iPhone 11 and am prompted for an extension number by an automated answering system, the extension numbers I choose do not appear to register, and I am unable to reach the desired extension. I tried programming the number using commas and semi-colons, but it didn't work. I must have made a mistake somewhere.
